Local Carriers. Within the Caribbean, travel is usually on turboprops and smaller planes. Local carriers, such as American Eagle, LIAT, WINAIR, TransAnguilla, Caribbean Star and Island Charters, offer scheduled flights and charters. Multi-National Archipelago. The nearby islands of St. Maarten/St. Martin, Saba St. Eustatius (Statia) and St. Barths are well worth a day trip or side excursion. Sharing St. Maarten/St. Martin's dual Dutch/French, multi-national personality, St. Barths is French and Saba and Statia are Dutch, while Anguilla is British. Ferry Service. Ferry service on the half hour connects Marigot on St. Martin (last at 7 PM) to Anguilla's Blowing Point (last at 6:15 PM). No reservations are required and the fare is $15 each way. |
